Safety tips
Marriage is a serious matter and so is your safety. Follow these guidelines to keep your search Islamic, respectful, and protected from scams or harm.
Involve your family early
Don't wait until things feel serious. Telling your family at the start keeps the process Islamic and protects you from emotional attachment to someone you barely know.
Keep conversations purposeful
Stick to topics relevant to marriage: deen, family, education, work, expectations. Avoid late-night chatting, voice notes, and anything that feels flirtatious.
Confirm before you trust
Ask sensible questions a fraudster would struggle with — references, masjid attendance, family contact — before sharing personal details.
Never share financial details
No one on Sakinah Mawaddah will ever ask you to send money, gift cards, or crypto. Block and report anyone who does — instantly.
Meet only with a mahram present
When you're ready to meet, do it in a public setting with a mahram or family member from each side. Never meet alone.
Guard your private information
Don't share your full address, workplace, or photos that include your home, license plate, or children until trust is established and families are involved.
Trust your instincts
If something feels off — pressure to move fast, inconsistencies in their story, refusal to involve family — it usually is. Walk away with no guilt.
